Final scores: Western Bulldogs 13.11 (89) def Sydney Swans 10.7 (67)
Going down as one of the greatest Grand Finals in many a year, the Western Bulldogs have pulled off a mighty win against the Sydney Swans.
In reality, it could’ve gone any way up until the last 10 minutes, but it was the unflappable Bulldogs who had the run in the tank at the end.
Storming home from 7th spot on the ladder to win their first flag in 62 years, the Doggies put on a fierce and determined display of power footy, literally beating the Swans at their own game.
Looking like a side of no-names against the star quality of the Sydney Swans, the Bulldogs played tough, running football, and never gave up, never stopped believing!
In truth, nobody would have begrudged a Sydney win.
Josh Kennedy was a lionheart, the twin pillars of Heath Grundy and Dane Rampe near enough to impenetrable. Dan Hannebery fighting on one leg,
Lance Franklin kicking a bomb in the last with a busted ankle. They were there the whole way, but perhaps destiny intervened. They won’t be far away again next year.
As for my tipping prowess over the finals? – the less said about that, the better I think!
So how long until next season??
