Dark fantasy collides with Sci-Fi in these hauntingly dark images

Prolific Munich-based photographer Stefan Gesell creates dark and foreboding images that border on otherworldly gothic/horror film noir, combining a powerful mix of fantasy/science fiction and industrialism that capture the imagination and confront the viewer.

Employing vast swathes of a vivid imagination mixed with a solid grasp of lighting, composition and prop-work, Stefan takes the onlooker on a haunting journey into other worlds where sometimes tortured figures all tell dark, and occasionally violent tales from unknown universes.

Taking inspiration from the likes of HR Giger and Gottfried Helnwein, he uses his background in graphic design to adapt this universe to surreal, Sci-Fi comic-book-like images that are not to everyone’s liking, but nonetheless are impressive in their individual tales of the human condition.

You can see more of his work on his Website, on Facebook, or many images here on Google.

H/t to IllusionMagazine for the awesome headsup.
