Indonesian village life pictorial reveals a simpler existence

Self-taught Indonesian photographer Herman Damar manages to capture a simpler existence with this engaging pictorial of life in and around the rural villages surrounding the nations capital and his home town of Jakarta.

Frequently caught up in the busy hustle and bustle of modern-day living, many of us rarely stray far from our busy schedules and take pause to enjoy the simple things in life.

“You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way. ” — Walter Hagen.

Beautiful composition and lighting only add to this intimate and colorful montage of mostly children at play in their common surrounds, expressing an honest, uncomplicated lifestyle many of us would surely envy, if only for a short time.
