It’s AFL Finals season again! Bring It On!!

All top 8 teams have a week to contemplate in preparation for the AFL Football Finals starting on the 8th of September, but the ultimate prize is anyone’s guess, with most of the top eight finalists in with a decent chance in my opinion.

Thursday 8th –  West Coast Eagles v Western Bulldogs.

West Coast have been dominant in their most recent matches and are clearly favorites here, and with recent wins over 2015 Premiers Hawthorn, and also GWS Giants, they’re strong contenders for a berth in the Grand Final.

Western Bulldogs have had a patchy season but their form has been solid enough to get them into the final 8. With only recent wins being against some of the lower order teams AND with a trip to Perth for this one, I don’t think they’re up to the task to go any further.

My pick: West Coast Eagles by 28pts

Friday 9th – Hawthorn v Geelong

Geelong have had a solid season and have won their last 7 matches, albeit against some of the lower teams. Their last loss was to #1 spot on the ladder Sydney Swans in Round 16. While they are strong, I don’t think they will be up to the Hawks ball skills and Finals maturity.

Hawthorn have also had a solid season but sometimes seem to lose the plot in what should be simple wins against lesser teams, which is a worry for the reigning Premiers. They are perennial favorites however, and I think their Finals experience and overall skill will get them across the line.

My pick: Hawthorn by 15pts

Saturday 10th – Sydney Swans v GWS Giants

Sydney Swans have been the dominant side throughout the whole season, and I have little doubt that they will be there in the Grand Final. They have the Finals experience under their belts, and are a strong team when the going gets tough. If Buddy Franklin is on form then anything could happen!

GWS Giants have had a good season with some great games against some of the games big guns, but I don’t think they’ll have the staying power here. Finals debutants this year, they have incredible firepower in front of goal but how they fare on the biggest stage is the question mark.

My pick: Sydney by 34pts

Saturday 10th – Adelaide Crows v North Melbourne

Adelaide’s form has been good over recent weeks but mainly against lesser teams in the comp., and with losses in the season’s second half against the bigger teams, I don’t think they’ll get too far in these Finals. Think they will win this one though!

North Melbourne started the season well, but with losses against all the teams above them in the second half of the season, this will see them lose this match and be out of the Finals again. Sorry Roos but I can’t see it happening this year!

My pick: Adelaide by 18pts

Love my AFL and love love love Finals Fever!  🙂  Good Luck to ALL the teams and let’s BRING IT ON!!
